Amplify Samsung SOFR ETF (SOFR) Third Quarter Commentary 2026

Written by Amplify ETFs | Oct 28, 2026, 8:26:26 PM

The Amplify Samsung SOFR ETF (SOFR) is an actively managed strategy aimed to provide current monthly income. SOFR ETF seeks to closely replicate the performance of the Secured Overnight Financing Rate, as published by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.1

During the third quarter of 2026, the Federal Reserve (Fed) reinforced its restrictive monetary policy stance amid persistent inflationary pressures. Marking a shift from earlier expectations of monetary easing, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) raised its benchmark interest rate by 0.25% at its September meeting, bringing the target federal funds range to 3.75%–4.00%, while updated projections signaled the possibility of another rate hike before year-end. Persistent services inflation, alongside growing resource demands and substantial investment associated with AI infrastructure expansion, contributed to ongoing inflationary pressures and reinforced the Fed’s hawkish policy stance.

The Fed’s restrictive policy stance was supported by the continued resilience of the broader U.S. economy. Despite elevated borrowing costs, economic activity maintained solid momentum, supported by robust corporate investment and resilient consumer demand. Significant corporate investments in artificial intelligence and data center infrastructure continued to bolster business fixed investment, while healthy household balance sheets and steady wage growth supported consumer spending. With the labor market cooling gradually rather than deteriorating sharply, the broader economic environment remained resilient enough to withstand prolonged monetary restraint, supporting elevated interest rates heading into the fourth quarter.

Against this monetary tightening backdrop, the Amplify Samsung SOFR ETF (SOFR) continued to serve as a defensive, income-oriented cash management solution. Because SOFR is a daily secured overnight financing rate, the Fed’s recent rate hike is captured immediately in the Fund’s compounding yield without the reset lags inherent in traditional short-term paper. Backed by a high-quality, diversified portfolio of repurchase agreements collateralized by U.S. Treasury and Agency securities, along with select high-grade commercial paper, the Fund combines robust collateral quality and liquidity with the potential for enhanced yield over cash. As macro resilience keeps benchmark yields elevated, we believe the SOFR ETF remains well positioned to provide attractive, regular income without the duration risk and potential price volatility of traditional bonds.
